Stephanie Padilla (see bio below) is joining us to talk about racism and diversity. Stephanie will discuss how this impacts us as writers, especially in our writing, in the critiquing of our writing, and within judging contests. She has read the recent New York Times Article and is up to date with the recent events regarding RWA.
After Stephanie presents and leads us in some group activities, we will open up the floor to a discussion of the recent events at RWA Nationals and plan our chapter’s response.
Stephanie Padilla’s Bio
Stephanie Padilla is Associate General Counsel for Johns Manville. She provides legal advice and counsel regarding labor, employment, worker compensation and benefits issues.
Stephanie joined Johns Manville in 2006.
Prior to joining Johns Manville, Stephanie worked as a partner at the law firm of Baker & Hostetler, specializing in employment and labor law including discrimination matters. Prior to joining Baker, Stephanie worked as an associate at the law firm of Holland & Hart in areas of complex litigation and employment and labor law.
Stephanie has served in several leadership positions with the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association and has provided training and spoken numerous times across the country on ethics, labor and employment law and discrimination.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.

Bryan Cohen has written over 400 book descriptions for fiction and nonfiction authors. His company Best page Forward has been key in helping authors reach the top.
March 14, 2020 – Calina and Saylet from the paranormal romance lovers podcast ‘Shhh We’re Reading Dirty Books’ (shhhdirtybooks.com) discuss what goes into the business of podcasting.
The March meeting will also be our business meeting for the year. Details TBD!

April 11, 2020 – Conferences Panel. This month is our annual conferences panel. (Moved from January.)
